Loneliness is Local - Connection Must Be Intentional

Loneliness continues to affect communities across the country, and new data from New Jersey illustrates just how widespread the challenge can be. An analysis of federal health data found that 33.5% of adults across New Jersey reported feeling lonely always, usually, or sometimes. In Passaic County, that figure reached 37.6%, while Essex County reported 35.7%.

The findings also reinforce an important point: loneliness can vary significantly from one community to another. Regular interaction, maintaining relationships, and participating in social activities were among the approaches highlighted for addressing social isolation.
